Have you started a second job in Ireland or are you thinking about starting an extra job? If so, there are many things to consider when it comes to your tax and tax credits.
Revenue counts one of your jobs as your primary employment and will allocate your tax credits and tax bands to that employment.
Your new employer will need to register you on Revenue.ie. If there are issues in doing this, you may be able to register yourself through myAccount and add your new employment.
It is advisable to spread your tax credits across both jobs which you can do through myAccount, and Revenue will then inform your employer of appropriate deductions to make.
You can use your tax credits and tax rate bands in just one job and pay higher tax in the second job but it’s advisable to spread them over the two jobs to ensure you get the full benefits of your tax band and credits each year.
